I very much believe in the concept of the Muse. I certainly don't know where most of the poems I write come from; some people might just say "inspiration.". Writing poetry is not as direct for me as seeing a tree and then writing a poem about that tree. I tend to spark off people and situations and it can take years for a poem to percolate its way up into the consciousness and sometimes just as long to revise it. The important thing is to be ready when she whispers.
