There are times when the flow of an image is secondary to the content, but with an image like this, the flow of the image is the content - Natasha’s leg leads the eye up to her body, which in turn flows up towards the horizon, which naturally merges into the sky, which pulls the eye back to the left again. Without the leg outstretched, the image would be much more blocky, and less fluid to move around.
