I haven’t worked much with black backgrounds of late; the rich qualities of the white sheets have been so enticing, I have ignored the other possibilities. With this image though, a white background would have lowered the contrast between Elisabeth and the background, which was exactly what I sought to explore. Unfortunately, because my place is so small, it wasn’t impossible to get the backdrop far enough back to make it pitch black.
