Made during one of my first indoor-available light sessions with Victoria in 2001, this image really pushed what I thought could be done with the camera; made with the lens fully open (as opposed to stopped down for an increased depth of field) and with a second long exposure, the result was beautiful. At this time, I had worked with Victoria for almost three years, and was still surprised at the elusive characteristics of her image; this portrait is one of the most “true” I have made to date.
