This image is one of the few times I have mixed available light with flash. The space Victoria and I were working in was about 15’ underground, lit only by a narrow ventilation shaft. Fearful that the light was too dim, even with an 8 second exposure, I used the small flash on a 35mm SLR camera to fill in the shadows during the exposure. The final result was better then I expected, with a good mix between the flash and available light.
