1995 was the year I began seriously exploring the use of filters; I’d used them some previously, but never ventured beyond a yellow. With the introduction of an orange, however, my view of such things changed, and I very quickly became quite involved in selecting the right filter for the right image. The rich, roiling sky that pulls this image together would have been much weaker with no filtration; an orange was just perfect.
