It was interesting to work in a space with such striking contrasts between the man-made (an old mill) and nature (the trees that had taken over the location). I purposely placed Bernice as a dividing line between the two, perhaps a slave to one, and overwhelmed by the other. I took advantage of the shallow depth of field of a long lens to throw most of the forest out of focus, concentrating the image on the rock wall and the figure in the foreground.
