The beautiful defocus of this image comes from using a fast, fixed focal-length portrait lens. The interplay between the reflection and Victoria‘s torso fills the frame with a surprisingly complex composition; what would have been a simple field, with delicately-lit breasts along the top becomes a plane with fluid lines from the bottom left to the top right.
