Of all the spaces I was to work with in New England in 2000, there was none more surprising or refreshing than the demi-lune (partial moon) at Warren. Built as a small separate fort to defend the northern side of the island, and the main entrance to the fort proper, the demi-lune’s curved face and pie-shaped rooms provided a challenge for me; it was surprisingly difficult to portray the spaces within while maintaining a sense of the room shape. This image, of the outer face of the demi-lune, was a little easier to capture.
