Like so many of my infrared images, this photo came from a roll of experiments. I’d never worked with infrared indoors, away from direct sunlight before. The exposures were long (1/2 second being the average) but the results, when the worked, were striking. The hands in this image are complex and busy, but the simple arc of light on the breast combats this well, and leads to an image with both complexity and focus.
